My Personal Six Pack Abs Journey
Wow, that’s all I can really say. The first time I looked at my before picture I was literally speechless at just how bad I’d let myself go. At age 31, and only 5’10, there was absolutely no reason I should have been weighing in at 205 lbs, and more than 25% body fat. However, I couldn’t find the proper motivation, program, and mentality to obtain the results that I desired.
Shortly before taking the infamous “before” picture above, I had my annual visit with my doctor and it quickly became known how my horrible health was affecting my body. The year before, my doctor had warned me that I needed to make some dietary changes, but overall, I was in pretty decent shape. However, on January 7th, 2009, I learned that I not only had high blood pressure, but also had high cholesterol, high triglycerides, and that I was more than 30 lbs overweight. I was then warned that due to the risk of heart disease in my family, I was well on my way to a heart attack. If that doesn’t motivate you, NOTHING will.
Ironically, I had begin a half-hearted effort to start working out on January 5th, but after I heard how dire my circumstance truly were, a new, more passionate fire begin to burn. This is when I decided to not only try a weight loss program that I thought I could stick with, but one that would give me the results that I wanted both internally and externally. After searching the web, I realized that most of the available programs simply weren’t going to deliver the results that I knew I wanted. How did I know? Because I had tried most of them, and was either underwhelmed with the results, or overwhelmed with the amount of money they wanted me to spend on their products in order for me to obtain the results they were promoting.
This is when I decided to do some research of my own and stop looking for the latest and greatest hype program. As I learned more, I begin to notice a pattern. Most of the available information about fat/weight loss online was ALL THE SAME, simply variations on the same program. But think about it, if all of these “same” programs work so well, why do so many people fail on them? The answer is really simple. If you’re not seeing the results you want, why would you continue to stick with a program? That answer is based on practical, and personal experience.
This is why I decided to create my own program. Something that I knew I would stick to, and something that would give me the rapid results that I needed in order to keep me motivated and focused. Which is exactly why I created the HealZoo Journey program. Before we go any further, let me make something very clear. I’m not a personal trainer, I don’t have a degree in Sports Medicine, and I’m not a “former” fitness model that knew the Hollywood fitness secrets. I was simply a fat, married guy, that was sick of being fat and out of shape.
The first “draft” of my program was extremely tedious. I initially tried to merge every bit of information I had learned was successful into an easy to follow program. Problem was, there were multiple phases and extreme amounts of cardio involved. I knew that if I couldn’t stick with it, noone else would be able to either. As I studied more, I began to refine my program, and eventually I had created a program that had me literally shedding pounds of fat off per week. Notice I said pounds of fat, not pounds of weight, we’ll discuss that further later.
